Our athletic foundation meets tonight (Monday) at 7 pm in the media center at CDHS. This meeting was moved from next week due to the upcoming holiday.
Any 10th or 11th grader who is interested in taking DCCC courses next year, and has never taken classes at DCCC will need to attend an interest meeting with Mr. Tongel and Mrs. Feezor this week. The meeting will be Wednesday morning at the beginning of 2nd period. Students will receive information on placement testing and how to sign up for courses. Parents, if your 10th or 11th grader is thinking about taking community college courses next year, they will need to attend this meeting.
On Thursday evening, we will have a presentation regarding the recruiting process for college athletics. Any interested family should plan on attending this session at 6:30 pm.
Friday is a regular school day, and students are expected to be in attendance. Many times there's a misconception that this day is only for teacher made exams, however it is a regular day and all classes will be meeting.
All-District Auditions are coming up this Saturday, January 19th at both the middle and high school. This is a large event, and we need some help in pulling this off! Our band is needing drink, chip and food donations, as well as volunteers. Please email Rodney Workman if you are able to help, and he will send you the link to their google sign up sheet.
Next week begins exam week at CDHS. Attendance will be taken in all exam periods and review sessions. The ONLY reason a student should miss the morning or an afternoon is if they have already taken their exam or earned certification. Tuesday will be 1st period exams in the morning, followed by 2nd period review session. Wednesday we will have 2nd period exams in the morning, and 3rd period review session in the afternoon. Thursday will have 3rd period exams in the morning, followed by 4th period review, and on Friday we will have 4th period exams in the morning. Students with transportation will be allowed to leave after exams on Friday only.
If a student does not have an exam in the morning, but does have a review session in the afternoon, they are responsible for getting themselves to school for the afternoon session. If transportation is an issue, then the student should plan on coming in the morning during the exam time, and we will place them in a room to study while other students are testing.
If a student misses an exam or review session and their attendance goes over 8 absences, we will not waive their absence unless appropriate documentation is provided. We value exam week and our review sessions, as exams count for 20% of a student's final grade.
We have one home athletic event this week, and that is our basketball teams will host Lexington this Friday night.
