Principal's Message

Good evening, Spartans.

This is your principal, Heather Horton. I would like to thank you for a great turnout at our Open House on Tuesday night! It was wonderful to see so many excited students and parents ready to start an amazing school year! As we celebrate this strong start, I want to share several important updates for the coming weeks.

First, we have some exciting news for the 2025-2026 school year. Central Davidson has been designated to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which means that every student will be able to receive breakfast and/or lunch at no cost for the year.  Because meals will be available to all students at no cost, free/reduced meal applications will not be distributed or collected for students at our school for the 2025-2026 school year.  If you have students in your household who attend a school that is NOT participating in CEP, they will either need to be directly certified or apply for free/reduced meal benefits.

Next, if your Spartan needs to request a schedule change, the form is posted on our website and linked in the body of this message. Please be patient as our scheduling team works through these requests, starting with Seniors, followed by Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen.

Schedule Change Request Form

Looking ahead to the first day of school, Monday, August 25th, students will be allowed to enter the building through the Commons at 7:25 a.m. All students will report to their homeroom by 8:00 a.m. If a student has not been assigned a homeroom or is unsure of their homeroom, they should report to the media center, where staff will be available to assist them. By Monday morning, many changes will have been made to schedules. In homeroom, all students will receive a new copy of their schedule on yellow paper. Additional schedule changes will continue to be made over the first two weeks of school. Students should follow the schedule on the yellow paper until a member of the scheduling team notifies the student that their schedule has been changed. If students have a hole in their schedule, where no class is listed, they should report to the media center at the beginning of the period in which they have no class scheduled.

Finally, please remember that all students should report to campus on the first day of school, regardless of whether they have DDCC or online classes, so that their attendance is accurately accounted for on the first day.

Thanks for all you do to support Central Davidson! If there is anything we can do to support you, please don't hesitate to let us know.  Have a great night!
