Athletic Updates

CDHS Athletics is pleased to announce several staffing updates for the 2024-2025 season. Mr. Timothy “Tim”  Pittman will join our team as the new Athletic Director this summer. Coach Pittman comes to us from RJ Reynolds High School where he has served as Physical Education teacher and Head Men’s and Women’s Wrestling Coach for four years. Prior to his time at Reynolds, Pittman served Salisbury and North Rowan High Schools as a Physical Education teacher and Head Men’s and Women’s Wrestling Coach, Head Cross Country Coach, and Head Men’s Tennis Coach for eleven years. He is a graduate of Catawba College and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is looking forward to working with our Spartan Community!

Coach Layne Rainey will join the Ladies Basketball Team as an Assistant Coach. She has served the Central Davidson community as a teacher and coach at Central Middle School for ten years. Rainey played basketball and coached her sons’ teams until they were in middle school. She has been a part of the middle school girls’ basketball program for four years, as Assistant Coach for two years, and as Head Coach for the past two years. During her time as coach at the middle school, her teams had back-to-back undefeated, Conference Championship seasons. She is excited to join the high school coaching staff and looks forward to being a part of a great program where she can watch our young ladies develop into a phenomenal team!

We are excited to have Taylor Cranford join our volleyball coaching staff. She is an 8th grade science teacher at Central Middle and has served as an assistant for the middle school teams for five years. During her tenure, the middle school teams went undefeated and won Conference Championships for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. She is originally from Trinity, NC where she played volleyball in high school. Taylor is excited and grateful for this opportunity to grow the volleyball program in the Central Davidson community and coach alongside Coach Lawson! Go Spartans!
