CDHS Announces Varsity Women's Basketball Coaches

Central Davidson High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Lauren Boone as Interim Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. She has worked for Davidson County Schools since 2015 and has lived in Lexington since 2002. She attended Tyro Middle School and graduated from West Davidson High School in 2007. Boone played point guard for the Dragons in middle school and throughout her four years of high school. She also played AAU (travel) basketball during that time. Last year, Lauren served as an assistant coach for the Central Davidson Middle School girls' team with an undefeated season. She and her husband have five children, ranging in age from 2-10. They are future Spartans, and Coach Boone looks forward to the day they walk the Central Halls. She hopes they will follow in her footsteps, learning to love and respect the game as much as she does. To the players and parents, Coach Boone would like to share that her goal is to build a program you are not only proud of but also a part of. She aims to build on the foundation that has already been established at CDHS and is excited about the opportunity to coach the game she loves. When asked how she feels about being named Interim Head Coach, Boone stated, "Basketball is, has been, and always will be something I am very passionate about. I have so much love for the game, and the only word I can really use right now to describe this feeling is grateful. It's a great day to be a Spartan!"

Josh Carrick will return for his second year as Assistant Coach for the Lady Spartans. He graduated from Central in 1997, where he ran cross country, played baseball, and basketball. Carrick has a long coaching tenure for the Spartans: five years with softball, three with baseball, three with volleyball, and one year with basketball. He and his wife, Angela, are long-time Spartan Athletics supporters, serving as officers on the Athletic Foundation. Angela is also a 1997 Central Davidson graduate who played softball, basketball, and volleyball. They have two children, Macy, who played softball, volleyball, and basketball, and Jake, who played baseball and basketball for four years for Central Davidson. Macy and Jake were both Spartan award winners. We are excited to have Josh back this year.

Matthew Parsons will join the staff as an assistant coach. He graduated from Central in 2003, where he played football, basketball, and baseball, and was awarded the Spartan Award in 2003. Parsons has coached various sports at Central, including baseball, basketball, football, and volleyball, for over 16 years. He has supported our women's basketball program as a JV head coach and varsity assistant for seven seasons during his stint at Central Davidson. He and his wife, Monica, have supported Spartan Athletics in numerous sports over the past 16 years. They have one child, Ryah, a 2nd grader at Davis Townsend.

As a volunteer coach, Madison Neal will round out the coaching lineup this year. Neal is a 2020 Central Davidson graduate. She played varsity softball and basketball for four years and was the female sportsmanship award winner in 2020. She is in her first year as a kindergarten-second grade exceptional children's teacher at Southwood Elementary.
