Principal's Message

Good evening, Central Spartans. This is your principal, Heather Horton, with an important reminder about attendance and homecoming Friday. We aim for every Spartan to have a great, successful high school experience and receive their diploma. We need your help to ensure that happens.

First, high school attendance is documented by semester. The Davidson County School’s policy allows for eight absences per course per semester. Students who exceed eight absences will automatically fail the course without a waiver. Waivers are granted for extenuating circumstances only. Please help us make sure your student does not exceed 8 absences in any course during the fall semester.

Second, you can help us make sure our students have a great high school experience by participating in fun, school spirit activities and not signing out early when we have special events planned. Students signing out early when we have events such as pep rallies at the end of the day result in unnecessary increased administrative work for our staff, and the student misses out on an opportunity to bond with their peers. Students will not be allowed to call home to check out early Friday afternoon. If it is absolutely necessary for a student to leave early Friday, parents should send a note or email to Ms. Curd ahead of time. Thank you for your support, we appreciate your partnership to ensure the success of our school.

Have a great night.
